How to stop tracking email opens?

Dear All,

We are planning to use D365 Marketing to send out bulk emails to customers. When we are testing the email functionality, we can find the email opens are getting tracked in Marketing Email Insights and also getting tracked in Contacts timeline.

1. How to disable this functionality of tracking Email Opens, Email Clicks and email timeline updates?

2. Will it work if I set Tracking to 'Do Not Allow' within Contacts? We seem to have 80K contacts, do I have to update it individually for each contact? Is there any overall Tracking setting which will apply to all contacts?

Thanks

RE: How to stop tracking email opens?

Is it that you want to stop tracking of email opens altogether for all contacts or just don't want all of the email activity appearing on the timeline?

If it's just the timeline, you could adjust the global timeline filters to exclude email activity. More info here:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../add-activities

The Tracking field under Data Protection would do what you are looking for but is usually something you want users to opt in to (vs decide globally on their behalf) so that you minimize the loss of visibility into your valuable email reporting metrics.
