Hi,

I have a client who is having trouble exporting data from Smartlist to Excel. When he tries to export data created from smartlist to Excel, he receives an error message that tells Excel is not installed. However, Excel is installed on his desktop PC, and it works fine when opened. Anybody know what is causing this?

Which version of Excel is installed? It might be a non-supportable version.

If that does not help, I would test logging into the computer as the local built-in administrator to rule out permissions issues.

Also, seeing the exact wording of the error message may be helpful. Does it actually say 'Excel is not installed'?

Is the client accessing GP from his desktop, or via RDP, Citrix, or some other remote method? If the latter, and Excel is not installed on the remote desktop, it needs to be to work.

I guess you have accessing GP from RDP or Citrix. If yes, please check the GP production server has installed Excel.

When I checked, GP 2013 was installed in his client PC, but not in the production server.

I had a similar problem and determined that it had to do with window security. After we disabled User Account Control and added the user as an administrator on the local machine the issue was resolved (I'm not sure which one of these resolved the issue but if you don't want to add the user as a local administrator you can just make them a power user).
