File Maintenance Error Log Report

ReportReport

Hello,

Can someone please help me understand which  types of errors that are on this report would cause concern or which are regular maintenance items?  We run check links on the Receivables, Purchasing and Financial Series.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Best,

Carla

Basically go thru and confirm what the errors are showing you.

Usually in Payables you will get told that a "###" address is missing.

Again in Payables you will get an error on a transaction that no longer exists and therefore it is deleting the distributions etc.

Sales you get the Customer Address doesn't exist, that the transaction doesn't exist.

On Financial it will find transactions that have been deleted.

Better that you look at the errors, those that are reasonable like the above you can dismiss, those that seem a little off, you need to check on.  (Why did it delete this trans, ask your staff and you'll find they never completed it and entered it in again.

Then list some of the ones you have questions on.

    Hi Carla,

I would also like to add that you should run these routines repeatedly until they show no errors (or just the 'missing address, etc.' types of errors").

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

We sometimes get messages such as:

The transaction keys record is missing. The keys record has been removed

The keys record for xxx has been created.

Not sure if this is of a concern?

    Thanks,

    Carla

Those are normal errors.  Those are transactions that were never completed or deleted prior to posting and were just sitting out there.  They may have been interrupted by a network issue or I had a customer at the end of a night getting tired of waiting for their computer to close out of Great Plains, and they would just shut down their computer.  Which means that the last trx they were working on never got saved.
