Why do Customer Code & Item Code have to be upper case?

Mixed case (even lower case) is so much more readable & easier to spot mistakes.

Hi Nitin, thanks for your answer.

Looking up "Code Data type", it seems to say that it supports Unicode, which should allow for lower case too?  We are moving from another ERP to BC, and it seems like a backwards step to have to have uppercase codes.   Our mixed case codes are so much easier to read.

    Hi,

In the standard system most of the case all the No. field belongs to Code Data type, which enhance this capabilities and has the alphanumeric values and store the uppercase values along with the numbers.

While Text type fields like Description has a regular text value.

    Thanks.
