GP Security Task

ReportReport

Hi,

I need to create the smartlist same as the report which gets printed when user hits the Print button on security task setup screen.

I have created a new security task in GP through Security Task Setup. At the time of creating the task, type was 'Windows' , series was 'Inventory' and selected items were - 'Assembly Date Entry' and 'Assembly Distribution Inquiry Zoom'. Another entry was made as - Type -'Windows', series -'Financial', selected items - 'Account Category Setup', 'Account Rollup Inquiry'. After saving the record, information gets saved to table -SY10700. But I am not able to relate any link of other table to create the smart list query for printing the record in same format.

Please help !!

    Hello,

Are you aware that you can export the report as a csv file and then manipulate it in excel? I ask because 90% of the smarlists I am asked to create are so users can manipulate the data in excel.

I am confused why creating a security task relates to creating a smartlist. If you are looking for the tables you need to pull from take a look at this view by Victoria Yudin. https://victoriayudin.com/2009/03/12/sql-view-to-show-security-roles-and-tasks-in-dynamics-gp-10/

If that one doesn't fit your needs there are two others that might here. https://victoriayudin.com/gp-reports/dynamics-gp-systemsetup-sql-code/

With anyone of these views you can create dynamic queries in Excel that utilizes the views and can pass parameters into the query.

    Best regards,

    Kirk

Have you looked at the security reporting capabilities of GP Power Tools?

The Security Information window and Security Information Resources window can slice and dice the security data to whatever you need and it can be exported so that an auditor can review it.

The information I provided will get you what you need but David's GP Power Tools is well worth the investment (I think it is >$500). I still have a copy of the Support Debugging Tool but will purchase a copy of the power tools after our next GP upgrade. The tools are awesome and have more functionality than I could list.

    Regards,

Please can I suggest you get GP Power Tools BEFORE you upgrade (assuming you are on GP 2010 or later).

The Database Validation tool can check your system and all the table structures before you upgrade to help ensure a smooth upgrade.

It would be well worth it.

Also note that the SDT is discontinued and not supported and GP Power Tools is supported and has many improved and new features.

The upcoming build has Deny Based Security which fixes the GP application Security model, as well as many other new features.

    David,

I will try to follow your advice. It is harder to get purchases approved when I am in the middle of replacing 50% of our production hardware.

Plus what fun is a smooth upgrade :) They are much more interesting when things go wrong and you are still working in your test environment.

Thank you for developing the SDT and continuing development on GPPT. I am pretty sure I have only tapped about 10% of what it can do and it has already saved me hours as well as helped keep my users happier.

    Best regards,

    Kirk

    Hi,

Please see the attached report. It is security task setup reported directly printed from Security Task Screen. When I create a new security task considering Product as Microsoft Dynamics GP, it gets printed well while if I chose Product as My Custom Application, then Type, Security operation and Series information are displayed as blank. I have already made the necessary changes in dexterity and while checking through sql profiler, system creates temporary table at runtime then inserts necessary information in to this which are further required in order to print the report. The temporary table is further deleted after printing report. I was opting smart list as an alternate solution but do not know how to print these information.

    Please help.

SY09000 is the Security Task Master gives you a list of tasks

SY10600 gives you the Tasks assigned to Roles

SY10700 gives you Operations assigned to Tasks

Which two tables are you trying to link together? The columns in the SY10700 will tell you exactly which operations are included, but you need to know the objects resource ID in addition to the dictionary.
