We have a client that currently uses NAV 2017 and wants to move Business Central on the cloud. The thing that worries us the most about this process is the data migration part. Our client has almost 100 companies in their database and migrating data through rapidstart will create a serious downtime that client will understandably be reluctant to accept.
I know there is an issue (https://github.com/Microsoft/AL/issues/2476) about this on Github and Microsoft is still working on a tool but I wonder for such scenario can we use the intelligent cloud as a data migration tool.
The scenario is; we will first upgrade to BC on-prem, then set the intelligent cloud and let the replication do its work, and once all data replicated on-cloud, they will be ready to go for BC SaaS. I am not sure if this is kind of a misuse of the tool or there are downsides of it but I will be glad if you experts can share your opinions and experiences on the issue.
