Thanks Rawish, I thought this might be the case.
Hi Graeme,
You wont be able to open the new record in plugin as they are purely for server side functions and they cannot interact with the frontend(clientside).
only way possible is to put javascript on the form - you have to query the newly created record with some logic and open it using window.open or a similar command.
