Disable notification for the sender of an approval request

We have two approvers per purchase invoice. When an approval request is submitted, we receive the notification 'an approval request has been sent' twice. We need to click 'ok' on this notification twice for each approval request. Is it possible to completely remove these notifications? They do not provide any added value.
