RMS Store operations POS

I am inheriting a site with this application as the installer has gone away and left the client stranded.  I have experience in many POS applications and have worked through many of the issues in the back office of this product.  They have over 1000 items in inventory and none were entered with categories and costs amongst other details.  The easiest way to deal with this is to export to excel and reimport.  How is this done?

Hi there. Are you talking RMS Store Ops or POS 2009 application? If RMS Store Ops, You can use the RMS Store Opes Manager Inventory Wizzard (on the upper menu), there you can Item Cost or Quantity. You can use put new values, copy/paste values just as in Excel, apply formulas, etc, etc...

Hope this helps... Kind regards, A.

Thanks for the response. It is RMS Store Ops. I looked at the Item Wizard briefly while on site.  Does it open in a spreadsheet format because that is what we are looking for.

Hi again. Well, it depends of the task, but it's almost a spreadsheet...let say... Try it, it's easy...like a speadsheet... ;-)

When you run the wizard task it will create a worksheet onscreen. You will see Export and Import buttons at the bottom. Use Export first and populate that file with the data you want to Import back in. Or use the Export option to show you want the template needs to look like when the data is exported from Excel so Import will work for the wizard.

Excellent, I will try that on site, but how can I get a demo download of the software...a free trial for 30 days ?

Actually you can only import selected columns of data using a wizard task. Those are the editable columns shown in white. Dept/category is not an editable option with the standard tasks but cost and restocking info can be imported.

Microsoft RMS only requires a license for the POS module. You can run the installer and use the Manager module without a license.

Again thanks...that is what I saw.   I do not need the POS license...only the back office to test.  Do you have a link?

Thanks again...but that link just puts me in a loop. I was trying it all afternoon when I decided to join the forum.  Called Microsoft Dynamics and was on hold for 30 minutes and did not get through.  Not sure if it is because I am in The Bahamas.  If anyone has the download and can put it in the dropbox or email...
