I am inheriting a site with this application as the installer has gone away and left the client stranded. I have experience in many POS applications and have worked through many of the issues in the back office of this product. They have over 1000 items in inventory and none were entered with categories and costs amongst other details. The easiest way to deal with this is to export to excel and reimport. How is this done?

Not sure why you couldn't watch the demo. We have many international customers and visitors to our website, including the Bahamas who have no issues watching the demos. Maybe it was a bad internet connection?
Nah, their website is just screwed up and has been for a couple of months.
Try this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2128079/MRMS%20-%20Current/RMS%202.0/Store%20Ops/MSDRMS20_SO_enUS.zip
Thanks. I think that the Inventory wizard will meet the client's needs for now. Works like a charm. However, can someone advise if my inability to download the demo is a result of being in The Bahamas?
Hi,
We have an Add On just for this. Let us know if this is something you are looking to use. www.syssolutionsllc.com/.../DataImportTool

Thanks again...but that link just puts me in a loop. I was trying it all afternoon when I decided to join the forum. Called Microsoft Dynamics and was on hold for 30 minutes and did not get through. Not sure if it is because I am in The Bahamas. If anyone has the download and can put it in the dropbox or email...
Try this: www.microsoft.com/.../retail-management-system.aspx
Regards, A.
Again thanks...that is what I saw. I do not need the POS license...only the back office to test. Do you have a link?
Actually you can only import selected columns of data using a wizard task. Those are the editable columns shown in white. Dept/category is not an editable option with the standard tasks but cost and restocking info can be imported.
Microsoft RMS only requires a license for the POS module. You can run the installer and use the Manager module without a license.
Excellent, I will try that on site, but how can I get a demo download of the software...a free trial for 30 days ?
When you run the wizard task it will create a worksheet onscreen. You will see Export and Import buttons at the bottom. Use Export first and populate that file with the data you want to Import back in. Or use the Export option to show you want the template needs to look like when the data is exported from Excel so Import will work for the wizard.
