I realize both editions are fully supported but I am interested in hearing from your experience whether there are currently any caveats for using SQL 2012 in a brand new deployment.

If you plan on doing any custom reports with 2012 you will still need to use BIDS 2008 if you need to use the Report Authoring Extension to access the FetchXML capabilities.
Also make sure you download and install off the latest media, if you have an earlier version, the install will give you problems.

A few of disadvantages as I see are these:
2012 might be more expensive to implement depending on version/hardware
Not all 3rd party software vendors have confirmed official support for 2012 as a backend database (check into what software they want to run on it)
2012 is relatively new - many organisations (such as the one I work for) avoid implementing new software until SP1 has been released.
