Emailing sales orders packing slips

Given customer requirements we post and print packing slips at packing/shipping time because we include the packing slip document inside the container being shipped to the customer/drop ship location.

However due to other requirements we also have a need to email the packing slip to some destination.

While we understand we could meet both requirements through proper configuration in print management, one of the concerns we have is that in order for email to work in this context, the operator performing the packing operation would need to be 'setup' to be able to send email. This is a setup we want to avoid as we don't want operators in the warehouse to be able to email as among other things they could end up emailing documents/other by accident.

At some point we thought that maybe it was possible to setup a job to just email packing slips but it sounds like that is not possible because the packing slips have already been posted.

Looking for any ideas or solutions you may be aware of.

Thank you.
