For these type of upgrade paths, it's best to go backwards........

--you can upgrade to Dynamics GP 18.5 from GP 16.00.864, per the note we have on this 'Upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics GP' article:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../hot_topic_mdgpupgrade_415

--You can upgrade to Dynamics GP 16.00.675 or later, to include 16.00.864, from Dynamics GP 2013/12.00.2230

    learn.microsoft.com/.../hot_topic_mdgp2016upgrade_413

--You can upgrade to Dynamics GP 2013/12.00.1295, which includes 12.00.2230, from 10.00.1779 or later.

    learn.microsoft.com/.../hot_topic_mdgp2013upgrade_411

So, based on this, you'd want to upgrade from your current 10.00.1061 to 10.00.1779 for GP 10.0.

Then upgrade from 10.00.1779 to 12.00.2230 for Dynamics GP 2013

Followed by upgrading from 12.00.2230 to 16.00.864 for Dynamics GP 2016

Lastly, upgrade from 16.00.864 to Dynamics GP 18.5.xxxx.

The above articles have links to the System Requirements for the various GP versions, as well as links to the service packs and product download pages.

You'll want to also take into account the SQL Server version, as our GP Utilities does look at that version when launched.

    Thank you,

RE: Upgrade path from GP 10.00.1061 to GP 18.5

Hi there! If you're looking to upgrade from GP 10.00.1061 to GP 18.5, I'd be happy to help you out.

First, it's important to note that there are several intermediate versions of GP that you'll need to upgrade to before you can reach GP 18.5. The upgrade path from GP 10.00.1061 to GP 18.5 is as follows:

    1. Upgrade from GP 10.00.1061 to GP 2010. You'll need to upgrade to either GP 2010 Service Pack 1 or GP 2010 Service Pack 2.

    2. Upgrade from GP 2010 to GP 2013. You'll need to upgrade to either GP 2013 Service Pack 1 or GP 2013 Service Pack 2.

    3. Upgrade from GP 2013 to GP 2015.

    4. Upgrade from GP 2015 to GP 2016.

    5. Finally, upgrade from GP 2016 to GP 18.5.

It's important to note that upgrading your GP system can be a complex process, and it's recommended that you work with a certified GP partner or consultant to ensure a successful upgrade.

Please take into account Derek's advice about the the server OS and the versions of SQL. We have images matching SQL versions with the GP version. We do these types of upgrades all the time although the rate is slowing as most using GP have upgraded. It can be done. Just take your time to research each step.
