Scanner and bin code update on serviceorder

Does anyone have experience working with a handheld scanner in the service module of BC?
I have a customer who wants to generate a pick list on the scanner so they know which items to take from the warehouse to the workshop. They also want the correct bin code to be assigned to the service order once the items have been picked.

Today, they use a Honeywell scanner with the Insight Works app.

Is this possible? or does anyone have a better suggestion/solution or what we can do?

This is very important for our customer

hi there!

good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are!

Business Central supports the use of ADCS (automated data capture system) that allows communication between BC and handheld devices like the honeywell scanners you mentioned

Since your customer is already using insight works app with honeywell, this set up can be continued. Insight works provides Warehouse Insight which integrates to BC for operations like pick lists and scanning barcodes.

In warehouse insight app - you can configure and manage pick lists to guide warehouse staff on correct items / quantities to pick

You can set up BC to assign bin codes to the order which can be done by configuration on warehouse location for directed put away / picks. And defining bin codes for the items

ensure the scanners are properly configured to work with warehouse insight app and BC - including setting up decoding format, barcode types, etc.

Hi,

Using Insight Work’s Order Fulfillment Worksheet along with Warehouse Insight should enable this functionality. The standard report or pick slip does not include barcodes when printed, so you’ll need to work with a developer to modify the report and add the required barcode.

There are many other capabilities available, including inventory movement between bins, picking, shipping, packing, posting, and more.
