Inventory Status - how to change

Posted on by 200

Hi,

I have a client who is going through a phased implementation of D365 advanced warehousing module. Currently the warehouses have "Use warehouse management processes" set to off - their products have a storage dimension compatible with advance warehousing. They do like the idea of inventory status to control defective stock

My question is ..is there way of changing the inventory status of inventory whilst the stock is in a standard warehouse i.e.: "Use warehouse management processes" set to off. I cannot see an obvious way to do this as On hand by Location does not display the inventory and "Inventory Status Change" does not seem to work. Other than moving inventory to an advanced warehouse first I'm struggling to achieve this.

Any ideas welcome

Guy is correct here. I enabled the Inventory status dimension on a transfer journal, but now indeed notice that the 'To inventory status' field is locked for data entry.

    Hi John

You should find that both Inventory status change and Warehouse status change can be used to change inventory status, even if the Warehouse is not enabled for Warehouse management processes. If relevant for your process, a Quality order can also be used to change Inventory status (depending on the outcome of the Quality test).

I think you will struggle to use an Inventory Transfer journal. It's not possible to change Inventory status using this.

    Hi Moribund,

You might try the inventory transfer journal to move the on-hand from specific inventory dimensions to other dimensions.
