Moving average - Adjustment - Sales margin

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

I experienced the following issue:

An item setup with a "moving average" item model group was always purchased for a price around 8-12 EUR. Recently a change was made in the setup of the item's purchase quantity and purchase price and as a result an AP clerk posted an invoice with a Price of 8500 EUR / pcs. instead of 8.5 EUR / pcs.

Some of the items have already been sold. As a result the sales margin of this report got really bad as the moving average cost price jumped above the sales price.

To prevent similar problems in the future we already adjusted the moving average cost price by making use of the inventory "revaluation of moving average" functionality.

Everything worked well so far.

The only issue we currently have is the sales margin of the sales order that is currently completely distorted.

I would like to know if somebody is aware of any functionality that would allow making an adjustment to the cost price that has been posted when selling the items.

Maybe there is something "hidden" available that could help us.

Many thanks,

Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Unfortunately there is no support for this. The moving average is determined mainly at time of inventory receipt. When goods are sold it will take the at that time valid cost price. There is no closing or recalculation possible. You can only correct the on-hand stock value for moving average.

Maybe you can try the next workaround:

    - Credit the wrong sales order(s)/line(s) with a reference to the original cost price of the sales (same line or reference to the lot-ID).

    - Correct the moving average for the on-hand including the credited quantity.

    - Create a new invoice for these items.

Hello Andre, Many thanks for your feedback. That is probably something to be fixed by MS in the next release(s). Will post something on MS connect and see if they'll be able to provide a feature to get around this issue in the future. Best regards, Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

I know this post is very old, but did you ever receive feedback from MS regarding this issue?

    Many thanks

    Fjorela
