Excel file exceeded size limit of 4 MB.

Error code: 0x80060803Session Id: 9ce648b6-ab6c-4243-bdc9-ec78bfa01e78Activity Id: c059d1e2-31f9-4b55-891c-16d2c9a9df89Time: Fri Sep 11 2020 10:04:27 GMT+1000 (Australian Eastern Standard Time)

We have created an Excel template within Dynamics 365 Sales app, the template has a pivot table and the view has about 16000 records. Error display when we use "Open in Excel Online" function. The file size is 7MB, We can download and open the Excel but not opening it online. If the template don't have the Pivot table, just the view with 16000 records. The error doesn't display.

The System Settings in CE has set the file size limit for attachments to 10MB. Therefore I assume this is related to the SharePoint file size setting.
According to the SharePoint documentation, the SharePoint file size limit is 50MB.
Any ideas?

    Hi NLuk,

I would recommend you use Export to Excel tool in XrmToolBox to export the excel.

    Please refer to https://dreamingincrm.com/2015/05/30/new-xrmtoolbox-plugin-export-to-excel/

This is the download page of XrmToolBox: https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/

After downloading and decompressing it, open XrmToolBox. exe.

Install "Export to Excel" in the tool library.

    Connect to your D365 organization.

Open "Export to Excel" to export Excel.

    Hi Hao

    Thanks for the prompt response.

The Excel file is being used by the business, they are not technical. The file contains a Pivot table, it is not a simple data extract. In the current setup, they can download the file with no issue. However, the user prefer to open the file in "Excel Online" within Dynamics to view and update the data directly within the Excel Online. That's where the error message display.

    Hi NLuk,

The size limit of the Excel online file is determined by the license.

    Please refer to support.microsoft.com/.../file-size-limits-for-workbooks-in-sharepoint-9e5bc6f8-018f-415a-b890-5452687b325e

    You could check your license.

    Hi Hao

I have mentioned in the original post that the file size is only 7 MB, it's not even close to the limit. What I'm really looking for is if there is any setting to control the integration between CE and SharePoint that could restrict the file limit.

The file can be download in CE via the Excel Templates  with no issue.

The file can be open in SharePoint Online in browser with no issue

The only issue is if the file is being opened within CE using the Excel Templates > Excel Online

Hope this explained further on the issue.
