Inventory tx in closed period adjusted

Hello,

We use AX 2012 R3 CU10

Our stock model is Weighted average Date.

Inventory closing is a quite the beast to master.

We had an understansding that inventory issues would not be adjusted if the period is closed using "Invenotry close".  But we're seeing adjustments thath we didn't expect.  Here is the scenario :

08-10 :  Purchase order for 10 of ProductABC at $100 /unit

08-11 : Reception for 5 of ProductABC

08-12 : Inventory issue for 2 of ProductABC at $100 (movement journal)

08-13 : Inventory close up to 08-13.  No adjustement for ProductABC : OK

08-15 : Invoice for 5 of ProductABC at $110 /unit  (posting date 08-15)

08-15 Inventory recalculation up to 08-15

Adjustment of the inventory issue of 08-12 from $100 to $110 /unit.

Posting date to Gl : 08-15.

No module was closed in GL calendar during this testing scenario.

Our understanding was that running the inventory close up to 08-13 would prevent inventory movements before that date, sure.  But we were also under the impression that inventory issues that took place on or before 08-13 would not be adjusted due to an invoice that was posted after 08-13.  But the 08-12 issue is adjusted.

Is this normal AX behaviour?

Can it be altered not to adjust using setup?

Thanks in advance.

Denis.

    Hi Denis,

Sounds normal to me. AX can adjust the cost of an issue transaction when it is settled to a receipt transaction (and will even adjust the cost of settled issue transactions if the cost of its receipt transaction is adjusted). In fact, in your scenario, the issue transaction is still not settled (since you have not run Inventory close after posting the purchase invoice).

If you don't want AX to revalue your Issue transactions, you could look at the Moving average cost model.
