Help! with workflow duplicate emails...

the idea here is that whenever the user closes an Opportunity + proposal an email is sent out to close the proposal to charges, it functions great except, and here is the odd part, it sends two emails (identical) every time.  I did not originally have it set up as a Child opp, but I thought that might help, still I am getting the emails twice.  I tried to have it trigger on proposal status change, status change reason...no luck, still getting two emails.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is a workaround.

    suggestion: clear the trigger of "when fields change", there should be no check mark there. Then add the trigger "record status changes" then set your first condition (as you have already done).

    It should not execute the child workflow twice if your parent workflow's check condition is correct. I can't tell you why it duplicated the first time you attempted it, follow the suggestion and you should be fine.

    So I had it on "status", and it duplicated, so I tried to make it "status reason", its possible as you say the status might be triggering twice, and the status reason might be related to that, do you have any idea how to prevent the double trigger, or if there is a different field change that it could be tied to, that would work the same and prevent the duplicated trigger?

    hey again,

    if your trigger was on "Status Change" then your trigger checkbox for "Record Status Changes" would be checked, instead I see the trigger of "record fields change." Are you sure there isn't a field that is double updating? in other words you update 1 field which meets the criteria and triggers the workflow, but then that field has a child field (like status to status reason) and on the update of that field it triggers again, immediately.

    it is actually sending out two Identical emails, odd part is I watched it in action once, and saw two workflows trigger, I have the trigger on Status change for our proposal, the thought was the close of the proposal was happening one time, does the system issue s status change twice?

    Hi vlcmstne,

    it is actually sending out two? or are you seeing two in the timeline because you have the system setting for tracking sent and received emails? To confirm this theory check both emails' status. One will say "sent", the other "received".

    If it is actually sending out 2 identical "sent" emails, then check if you have any other workflows on that perform the same action? Perhaps from testing, but I'm leaning towards my first assumption.
