CRM Online - Import Error: The entity relationship role of the referencing entity is required when creating a new one-to-many entity relationship exp_integrationXXXX_MailboxTrackingFolders.

Hi,

has anyone had this issue when importing a managed solution from a sandbox environment to a production environment in CRM Online (2015 May update 1)? Both sandbox and production have the same 2015 version according to the administration portal.

The error during import (shown in import log):

"The entity relationship role of the referencing entity is required when creating a new one-to-many entity relationship exp_integrationXXXX_MailboxTrackingFolders."

(please not that exp_integrationXXXX is a custom entity)

This seems to do with a new attribute that came with the latest update of CRM 2015 (Mailbox Tracking Folders) so this surely seems like something Microsoft support needs to look into, but sometimes is good to get feedback from the community first.

    Hi,

Just to be sure, a couple of questions:

Did you make the managed export yourself?

Did you ensure that you had all related items to be added automatically?

Looking forward to hear from you

Please make sure all the required related items are included in the solution.

Yes, I encountered this on the upgraded environment from 2015 to 2015 update 1. My workaround is to unzip the solution file, edit customizations.xml by removing the folder tracking relationship.

I found out that this is a bug of partial upgrade and would recommend you to log a support ticket so that Microsoft will be more aware of this issue.

You will get same "type" of error, if you try to import an entity from one environment to another where the entity

in the target environment is defined as ownership Organization and in source is defined as User or Team. In this case the related field will be a businessunit reference, ex. business_unit_yourprefix_yourentityname. In such case there is no other solution than ensure the the ownership level is identical in both environments first, by dropping and recreating the entity in one of them.
