Hello,

I'm trying to find a document describes the deference between Reporting Services 2008 and Reporting Services 2008 R2 and it's effect on deploying Dynamics GP 2010 reports, for example will it affect charts and KPI ?

Thanks

    Hi Alaadin,

Are you going to deploy the reports from GP2010 to Reporting Services 2008 R2?

in Reporting Services 2008 the reports are already deployed?

since i guess both are major versions, then

SSRS upgrade need to be done.

please find the attached link that contains difference of 2 release.

I doubt you will find anything. With SSRS 2008 R2 there were added additional datasources but how the reports are rendered did not change. Perhaps this article will help.

    Hi Alaadin,

in case of pointing GP2010 instance in Sql server 2008 R2, then there is no change in Report rendering. it remains same

So to be specific; regarding Charts and KPIs reports' deployment 2008 R2 in not required and 2008 will do the job?

Current env on SQL 2008, SSRS 2008, GP 2010

    Thanks all for your help

That is correct. If I remember correctly in order to run Business Analyzer you needed SQL Server 2008 R2. So if you what you want is part of Business Analyzer you would need to upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2. Just the basic SSRS report sholuld be fine.

With regards to SSRS 2008 & SSRS 2008 R2 they are largely similar.  You got some added functions with new rendering extensions for Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.  I have deployed the reports for GP 2010 to both SSRS 2008 & SSRS 2008 R2 and found the behavior of both was identical.  I saw someone reference needing SQL 2008 R2 for Business Analyzer but I'm looking at the requirements of the setup PDF which is dated 4/6/2012 for GP 2010 and it supports the use of SQL 2008, 2008 R2, and SQL 2012.

technet.microsoft.com/.../ms170438(v=sql.105).aspx - This will outline what is new in each version of SSRS for complete details.
