Why Configuration Key is blank?

Hi All:

I'm writting to ask why Configuration Keys of some data entities are blank?
I inquired into the default data entities of D365 system, and observed that the /Configuration key status/ of some data entities are enabled(checked), but the /Configuration key/ of these data entities are blank.
These made me confused what does the status mean. In my understanding, if the /Configuration key/ is enabled(checked), the /Configuration key/ should not be blank, and a key value is supposed to be set up.
Could you tell me why the configuration key is blank, although the key status is enabled.

Thanks in advanced.

    Hi Jacky,
Based on the problem you described, it seems that you have questions about the Configuration key and Configuration key status. The document describes the concept of both and what it means when empty. As the documentation says, the two are not strongly related on the page, and you can uncheck the configuration key status when there is no configuration key. The document link is below for your reference: Configuration keys and data entities - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    Hi Jacky,

This is how it was designed. Setting the configuration key for the data entity will depend upon the functionality.
So, Microsoft hasn't created configuration key for some entities.
Also, if the configuration key if empty - configuration key status is checked - This is how it was designed - If the configuration key is blank and configuration key status is unchecked then it will give different meaning.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.

    Hi GirishS :

    Thanks for your reply.

If the configuration key is empty - configuration key status is checked,
does this mean that I don't need to care the configuration key status is checked or not? As there is no configuration key that is associated with the data entity, the value of configuration key status can be neglected?

    Hi Kevin:

As you said the two columns are not  strongly related on the page,
it make no sense to select checkmark for the configuration key status, if the configuration key is blank?

    Thanks

Yes, you can neglect if the configuration key is blank irrespective of the configuration key status is checked or not.
By default, Configuration key status will be enabled if the configuration key is blank.
So, need to worry about this thing.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.
