I want know Difference between Inactive and Blocked fields on Fixed Asset because when fixed asset is Inactive true then system not allowing to do any type of transaction and similarly if fixed asset is blocked system restrict transaction. So what is the purpose of keeping both fields on fixed asset.

Not able to acquired
Not able to increase book value
not able dispose.
Same things happening if Fixed asset is blocked.
So what will be the purpose keeping both fields as both working same.
Please help to understand
Thanks in Advance

    Blocked (Field: Blocked = True)

    Purpose:

Used to temporarily prevent postings on a Fixed Asset due to administrative or technical reasons.

    Awaiting some approval.

Temporarily halting usage due to audits or technical issues.

Putting the asset on hold for disposal planning.

    Inactive (Field: Inactive = True)

    Purpose:

Used when the asset is no longer in use — typically retired, sold, or fully depreciated.

    Asset has been disposed of

Fully depreciated and no longer used operationally.

Historical record only, kept for audit/reporting.

Let me know if this helped you.

    Thanks,

    KP

Technically what happen is, Inactive FA wont appear in the Reports and all but Blocked will appear in your Reporting like FA Book Values and all.

    Hello,

I agree with a previous answer.
I want to add that you can check that by running the Fixed Asset Book Value 01 report for one FA with and without the enabled Inactive field on the FA card.
Inactive FA will not be listed on your report, but blocked and unblocked FA will be shown regardless of the Blocked option.

    Greetings

Maybe this will help clarify the difference.

In Fixed Assets, both Inactive and Blocked restrict transactions, but their purpose is different:

Inactive is used when the asset is no longer in use (e.g., disposed or retired). It’s more of a status indicator for reporting and operational visibility.

Blocked is used to temporarily prevent postings, such as during audits or data corrections — without marking the asset as retired.

So, Inactive = permanent status, Blocked = temporary control.
