Hi,

We are looking to upgrade from GP10 to GP 2013.

We are currently using eConnect10 to integrate orders from our CRM4.0 installation into GP. I am not very familiar with GP or eConnect and I cannot find much details on whether eConnect has to be upgraded as part of the upgrade from GP10 to GP 2013.

Would eConnect10 work as is when we upgrade to GP 2013? Or do we need to upgrade to a different version? If we need to upgrade, would it be eConnect 2010 or is there a different version for GP 2013?

Thanks.

Just for the record - mainstream support for GP 10.0 ended in October of 2012.  However, there is extended support for GP 10.0 until October of 2017.  More details as well as links to additional resources can be found here: victoriayudin.com/.../when-does-my-gp-products-support-end.

You would need to change to eConnect 12 (the 2013 version) if you upgrade to GP 2013 or eConnect 11 (the 2010 version) if you go to GP 2010.

I wouldn't say waiting a year is necessary but I do generally give a few months and the first service pack before I recommend upgrades to clients unless there is some other need driving the upgrade.

Then I would suggest 2010 which will continue to be supported until 2015 if they must change.

GP 10 will become unsupported at the end of January 2013 so I would suggest upgrading to at least GP 2010, especially if you use GP Payroll because no further tax updates will be available.

    Re: gp 2013

I would wait at least a year after launch to move to GP 2013 if you already have GP 10 working well for you, so Microsoft has a chance to work out all the bugs. There are quite a few changes to the 2013 implementation.

As long as you are using the provided econnect processes (addon for the CRM > GP link, or the provided .dll libraries) and not going straight to SQL stored procedures, you should not have too much difficulty in moving your existing integrations onto the upgraded platform.

You should consult with your GP partner though for guidance on this.

    Regards,

    Josh
