How do we move measures, segments, unified data to different environments

Posted on by 120

Hi all,

I am new to Customer Insights application and wanted to understand the deployment process. Like in CRM we use solutions for moving components across environments like SIT, UAT...  do we have some process for Customer Insights?

In DEV environment we are doing data ingestion , unification , relationships creation , measures creation, segments creation, how these will be moved to SIT, UAT?

It looks like this was planned for the 2023 Release Wave 2, Is this still on the Roadmap? Microsoft Idea (dynamics.com)

    Hi,

The Copy environment is not avaliable. Please see the attached image? How to enable Copy environment option?
Also can we selectivity copy the rules , rather then copying the who environment?

Is there any way to export, selective rules from the envrionment and then import them in another environment.

    Hi Anad,

I do not believe any straightforward way to export/import configurations from/to CI  does exist today. This feature seems to be missing. Please vote here:

    experience.dynamics.com/.../

One way to achieve this today might be to use the API but that would require some extensive programming.

The workaround we are consideriung is to create a new environment from an existing one, however this is still in preview:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../create-environment

    Cheers,

    Johannes

Thank you Anand very much for this feedback.

we are actually prioritizing this area (application lifetime management and CI/CD) these days and working towards initial ALM capabilities. I can expand on these but

timeline wise they should be fully ready by April 2023 the latest (probably sooner).

In the meantime we do provide the "Copy" environment capability that can be used whenever you create a new environment and only as a Dynamics 365 Customer Insights admin (otherwise an admin should be contacted for that purpose). There is a checkbox in the new environment creation panel UI that provides you with the option to copy all your configurations from one existing environment that you have into a new one.

More details can be found here: How to: Create a new environment - Dynamics 365 Customer Insights | Microsoft Docs

Thank you so much and please don't hesitate to reach out to me here: nimrod.magen@microsot.com

    Hi Anand,

I too am frustrated by the included environments in our license. Only 1x Sandbox and 1 x Prod makes it incredibly difficult to manage a a traditional Dev, test, prod release management process.
