I am trying to install a new module to an existing GP2010 install. I am going to Add/Remove Programs, clicking Change on Microsoft Dynamics GP2010. I select Add/Remove features, then the module I want to install, verify the path and click Next, then Install. As soon as it starts, I receive this message: The installation has failed. I also receive the same message if I try to run the install from the DVD. Has anyone seen this before and know how to work through this?

Hi,

In my case i got the same issue, i just uninstalled the framework and installed it again then run setup with administrator rights i can able to step into the installation process.

Another thing to check is whether you can do an 'Repair' on Dynamics GP 2010 through the Add/Remove Programs? If it also fails, it may be possible that there is something incorrect in the Windows Registry and/or the installation is damaged some how.

Do you get this issue only on this one machine or more than that?

Also, is this a W7 computer? If so, make sure UAC is turned off.

I would recommend first, remove all temp files, from your computer, second I would suggest you run the install as Administrator on the local machine, third if all else fails, go to sysinternals.com download a utility called Process Monitor, and start tracing from the moment you run the setup.

Try searching on your results display, for any "ACCESS DENIED" result.
