Russian address setup

Hi there,

I noticed something new (to me)

In address format set up form (Organization Management > Setup > Addresses > Address Setup > Parameters tab), user can configure whether Zip Code, City, District are validated when creating an address (=have to be selected from a pre-defined list) or not (=user can type any value, like a free text field)

However, In AX 2012 (at least R2 and R3), when creating an address in Russia (country/region = RUS), an unusual address format is used, and the user is required to select the state, county, city, district, and street code from a drop down menu, regardless what is set up on the parameters tab.

Have anyone noticed this anomaly?

Is there a way to disable the validation for the these fields? (and especially City)

We only rarely have addresses in the Russian Federation, and it is a bit of a hassle to have to upload in advance all the regions/cities values into the drop down list - hence this is a bit detrimental to data entry efficiency.

    Hi,
If you want to disable the validation you have to use the same address format for Russia as for all countries. Please change it in the Address setup form for "RUS" (Russia). Open "Address setup" form (Organization administration / Setup / Addresses / Address setup, tab "Country/region"), find "RUS" line and change the value in the "Address format" column.
Generally Russian address format is created to use special address database (KLADR), that you can import in AX.

    Hi Olga,

I tried to follow the steps in your advice (AX 2012 R3 CU9):

    1. changed the address format of country RUS, in this case to a format that only has

    2-03_2D00_02_2D00_2016-10_2D00_17_2D00_37.png

    2. In the parameters form, Zip, district or City validation is turned off:

    2-03_2D00_02_2D00_2016-10_2D00_17_2D00_37.png

    3. However when I try to create an address in Russia (in this example, for a customer), the system does not allow me to enter "free text" city:

    3-03_2D00_02_2D00_2016-10_2D00_30_2D00_42.png

    Hi

The ISO code on the country setup is validating if the country is Russia or not.

If you change the ISO code on the country, the Russian validations are no longer used, and you can specify the address like all other addresses. This code is not controlled by parameter settings, but only on the value ISO=RU.
