ReportReport

Hi,

I have done different customization in sales invoice, like it have about 7 customized design which I use in different situation. With these customization report was already heavy and taking time in deployment and execution.

Then I get some more customization and have add one more DataSet in report for a design. After deploying these changes on production, the server getting stuck and report is getting more slow. Because of these changes AX server getting stuck and we need to restart the services some time.

Now I am thinking for its solution, as the report have about 7 design. Can I have 7 sales invoice reports to execute particular report depending the condition with same sales invoice menu.

Here is the screen shot of the customization which I have in design for the idea.

If your new dataset caused the problem, it's probably implemented incorrectly. Review the implementation and if there isn't anything immediately suspicious, measure the performance. There may be an incorrect query, missing indexes or any kind of bug in code.

The number of designs has nothing to do with performance; only one of them is executed at a time. But yes, it would be possible to implement each design as a separate report, but you usually don't want to do it if they're logically the same report with different visualization. Each report would have to repeat the same setup of datasources etc., making maintenance more expensive.

    Hey Nadeem,

I think, there will not be a problem to customize it this way, but I do not know if it is going to improve your report execution significantly. When you are printing sales invoice, your report name is passed in SalesInvoiceController class in main() method, through formLetterController.parmReportName(). If you have few reports, you can add your cases here.

Thanks Martin, Should I share my XPO? To check it in detail, if I have made some mistakes?
