Policy Regarding Executing "Production" Batch Jobs in D365 F&O

Hello All:

We are interested in the best practices executing recurring Batch Jobs considered Production vs Non-Production.

Example 1 - Customer Statements will be a recurring set of batch jobs run (weekly, semi-monthly, Monthly, etc).   Should they be Created By / Run By an Accounts Receivable User?  An Admin User?  Other?

Example 2 - Batch Job Clean up - Should they be Created By / Run By a Sysadmin?  Other?

Is there a Microsoft Document that describes best practices?

Thanks in advance

Paul

    Hi,

Recurring batch jobs should be running under the Admin or other 'system' account. If they run under a person's account and that account is deactivated, the batch job is impacted meaning it won't run anymore.

I have not seen a document that describes this.

    Hi Paul,

There is no public Microsoft documentation about setting up batch jobs. Anton is correct about using an admin or other service account. I wrote a blog about that topic a while ago: Life's a batch... - Dynamicspedia
