Dynamics CRM Upgrade

Hi,

Our Client is using currently 2015 Dynamics CRM Onpremise. Is there a specific reason like we have to do upgrade to the latest version for sure?

Please let me know what happens if do not upgrade the CRM instance.

    Hi James,

    One of the main advantages for upgrading the CRM instance is that you benefit from new features and also a more frequent update rollup cycle - that includes various bug fixes.

    For CRM 2015, of course there will still be fixes released, as long as it is in the support life-cycle, however these won't be that often, as you would see for D365 for example.

    Hi,

    There is nothing against it as long as the product is in the support of MS.

    I would recommand you to do it because going from one version to another has its costs but I think all in all it is less than migrating from CRM 2015 (v7) to Dynamics365(v11) in one shot. You will have so much to change (form customizations, Jscript, plugins, navigation,...)

    Trust me I made one from CRM4 to CRM 2016. It was really hard for the customer to use the new UI, to use all the new functionality. It was like a new software to them.

    If MS keeps the same relaese rate, your customer will be lost in no time (already the 1st thing will be the navigation as you are still on CRM 2015).
