Thanks fro the suggestion, Vaidy. As you said I found a special character(`) in the rerecord.

I updated that data from back-end. Now, it can exportable in Excel. Thanks again.

    Hi Vaidhy,

Thanks for the reply. Can you share what are all the unreachable characters in GP smartlist ?

From my past experience, this one looks more like the data issue. Check if any column on this Smartlist has got some unreadable characters. These are NULL values in SQL, but got rendered with some unreadable characters in Smartlist.

Fixing this would be simple. Either you have to locate the columns and update with some values at the backend OR remove the column from the Smartlist (if users do not want them). Exporting the data to Excel after fixing these values would not have this issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Mani,

Here is a blog post from my friend Mariano related to the OWC issue in GP and the download links :

    http://dynamicsgpblogster.blogspot.ca/2010/07/microsoft-dynamics-gp-2010-and-office.html

As for the maximum number of lines exported by SmartList, 1000 is the default value to limit the run time for the display of the records... as SmartList is known for not being the speediest process in GP, displaying (and exporting) more than 1000 lines is a lengthy process.

Patrick Roth (at the time a SW engineer at Microsoft) posted a blog entry several years back on how to use some tricks to speed-up the export process :

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/developingfordynamicsgp/2010/05/13/smartlist-exports-slowly-to-excel-part-1/

However, there are drawbacks in using this method, and if you're using multi-currency and want to report currency fields in your smartlist, this may result in strange output, so be warned about it.

Globally speaking, when you want to extract large quantity of data from GP, I would suggest to get away from SmartList and use instead refreshable Excel reports. Those are connected directly to the data source and 100 times faster to extract the data from the SQL tables then SmartList. Microsoft has provided since GP 10.0 over 200 reports in Excel & SSRS format to deploy with GP. Very easy and takes 5 min to do. The latest editions of GP (2013 & 2015) allow you now to build refreshable Excel reports directly in GP with SL designer and Excel report designer (in case you don't own eOne's Builder series product).

Can you give some additional detail about OWC? and we are using Office 2010. Also, if I am selecting Maximum record is 1000 in Smartlist, I am getting excel report without any issues. The total record is 21000.

    Hi Mani,

What Office version is installed on this system ? did you install the OWC library from Office 2003 & 2007 ?.. Starting with Office 2010, Microsoft didn't ship them anymore with the product, so it needs to be installed separately..
