Disable/Modify Task duration calculation

Posted on by 5

Hello,

we want to use Dynamics 365 Project Operations in very simple mode without integration with FO. We will use BC instead.

We have found in product basic limitation - that is task end date calculation based on start date plus effort. We need to change it as there are many scenarios like do the task in February with effort of 5 days.

How to achieve such simple requirement ?

Thanks in advance for help in this issue.

    Hi Jiri Stribrny

Try this link and choose the applicable scheduling mode where duration is not set (or calculated).

Scheduling mode needs to be chosen while creation of project and cannot be changed later.

    Hello

Can someone please explain how the duration fiel is calculated on Tasks

I have strange calculations of it that I do not understand, see examples in screenshot...

But for example I plan a task from 1/2/22 to 4/2/22 system calculated a duration of 5.13 days? For me it's 4 days...

    Thanks

After latest application update the issue is fixed.

We want to plan an task in project where duration is one week and effort 8 hours. It meens that in week XX installation work has to be done and does not matter when exactly. Effort will be 8 hours.

We can achive this scenario by manualy changing the Effort. From that moment automatic recalcultion is disabled - so you can change end date.

    Hope it helps others

    HI Jiri,

I am not sure I understand the question.

On the Task Grid board when you schedule a day5 days work it is not displaying the 5 days work?

Or are you booking the 5 days and adding effort on top of the 5 days?

    Thanks
