Hi,
We've got a somewhat unusual situation and I'm looking for a way how to deal with it in AX 2012 R3.
This is about a situation where our company modifies customer's devices, which they supply to us at an unknown moment in time. A sales order has a due date indicating a final date but if the device arrives somewhere between now and then we've got two weeks to do our work, which is tricky since the lead time of the required components is more than two weeks. This is solved by ordering them right away.
Currently this is done by scheduling the production orders forward from today which is by far not realistic. The advantage is that the required delivery dates calculated by MRP for the to be procured components match the asap-approach. But the burden it brings is that the production capacity planning is a mess. Scheduling them backward from our product's delivery date would make more sense but that would result in required dates on the purchase orders that are too far in the future.
Does anyone know a solution for this? E.g. something resulting in the purchase orders getting a delivery date a week after now? Safety stock won't work I'm afraid.. the required components are too specific for this.
thanks!
