Hi All,

Recently I had a customer was asking about EDI module in SL 2011. Following there is some question

      1.       What kind of communication protocol that the Edge translator is using to receive and transmit the EDI file(FTP, HTTP,       email)?

       2.       In the EDI user guide, there is a program called EDI Translator a.k.a EDI Edge which responsible for sending and receiving the EDI data, however in the installation file, can’t locate the program.

3.       How the existing EDI handle the Change Order process?

    Hi Jennifer,

    Thanks for the reply.

    My customer is a bit concern with the use of FTP communication protocol. When you said direct connect, I supposed this is referring to some kind of point to point communication, correct me if I'm wrong.

    For #3, you were mentioned manually update the Sales Order, is that meant that the user have to manually run the TI to update the SO?

    Teh,

    1.  The Communication scripts in EDGE can be created specific to the need. I have seen FTP and HTTP to the Value Added Networks (VAN) and it also can be setup for direct connect to the bigger customers that have their own network.

    2.  The EDGE software is a separate installation CD that would come via FEDEX after the module is purchased.

    3.  EDGE can be configured to allow them to receive the 860 and convert the data into a readable format to be printed and used to manually update the Sales Order.
