My company is about to deploy SL 2011 FP1. I would prefer to to use Windows authentication in my ODBC connections if possible. If I leave FRx out of the picture, can I use windows auth exclusively or is mixed mode still required?
Is the Master60SP user still necessary?

Hello JEFF
Sure, You could define Windows Authentication for SL 2011 FP1.
Please find below the steps to be followed for Windows Authentication setup for Dynamics SL 2001 FP1.
1) Open the OBDC Data Source Administrator from Control Panel-> Administrative Tools
2) Delete the existing ODBC connections for both Solomon Application and System databases if exists
3) Open the Database Maintenance (98.290.00) screen under Control Panel-> Administrative Tools
4) Connect the server using windows credentials
5) Go the Update Database tab and select the appropriate SL System and Application databases
6) Click the Set Authentication Type button & select the Windows Authentication (recommended) option and click Ok
7) Specify the Windows Username for Microsoft Dynamics SL Administrator (SYSADMIN) and click OK
8) Once the process is completed try to launch Dynamics SL 2011 Fp1 with windows login credentials
Even you can login the FRx using windows authentication
For FRx you have to define the following configuration settings in ODBC connections for both Solomon Application and System databases
1) Open the OBDC Data Source Administrator from Control Panel-> Administrative Tools
2) Select the SL Application Database - DSN
3) Click the Configure button
4) Verify the DSN name and Server information and click the next button
5) Select the Option box for "Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration options"
6) Also select the option "With Windows NT authentication using the network login ID" and process the other steps as usual
Hope this may helps you
Thanks & Regards
