Thanks, I read through the article but the kb is referring to a different scenario, specifically when calling the web service, missing key is 1 , apply to GP 9, 10

In my case I am using GP2010 installed on Win2008 R2 and I have not reached the point of calling the web service. the error popped up when attempt to run the configuration wizard

    Hello Alaa,

The reason why this error is occurring is because it is seeing remnants from a prior install of Web Services for Dynamics GP, most likely in the databases, so it is trying to run an upgrade and not a new installation.

The problem with upgrading is that if you're coming from a Web Services for Dynamics GP 10.0 or prior version and/or an installation of Web Services that used ADAM as the security store, which the GP 10.0 and prior versions of Web Services did, you'll only be able to upgrade Web Services by being on the exact same server that Web Services was initially installed onto.

The reason for this is that ADAM is machine specific and when Web Services sees remnants of a prior install, it looks for the ADAM security store, which it won't find unless, again, you are on the server that Web Services was originally installed onto.

If you're doing a new install of Web Services for Dynamics GP, you most likely need to run the scripts (and possibly steps) we have to manually remove Web Services objects from the databases, which will then allow you to use the Configuration Wizard to install onto the databases.

The easiest way to verify this is to run the following script:

           Select * from DYNAMICS..WSinstallStatus

If this table exists, it means that Web Services was installed and the records within this table will tell you what version, as it acts similarly to the DU000020 table.

Should you need the steps or scripts, you can find them at these links:

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../MDGP10_HOWTO_UninstallWebServices

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../MDGP2010_HOWTO_uninstallwebservices

    Thank you,

    Hi Derek,

Thanks for your reply. I am still kind of confused.

    Just few things to mention:

    - I am not doing an upgrade from V 10.0 , this is a brand new installation on V. 2010

    - I am using SQL as an authorization store

    - Everything looks fine except when I run the configuration

    - When I call the WS URL from the browser, all seems seem to be fine

The WSInstallStatus table is exist and show some records but all with the same version major(11), and same version build (1269)

What will I gain by removing the WS and re-install it again?

    Thanks again!

Even though the WSInstallStatus table shows the same version that you're installing for Web Services, the bigger issue is that you probably had Web Services for Dynamics GP 2010 installed on another server originally, and used ADAM as the security store at that time.

Because ADAM is machine specific, you'll need to either go back to that original server, or use the scripts to manually remove the objects from all Dynamics GP databases related to Web Services, so you can then run the Configuration Wizard again to re-install Web Services on the databases anew.

The only thing you'll lose is any setup that was done within the Dynamics Security Console previously, such as roles, entity ID assignments and policies. These will need to be re-setup as needed once you get Web Services installed via the Configuration Wizard.

By moving the security store to a SQL database, you'll be able to move from server to server in the future as you migrate and update to new versions of Web Services, taking the security store database with you to different servers, something that can't be done with ADAM.

    Thank you,

    Santosh,

I am experiencing this same error message with a Web Services installation and would like to review your solution, but I am unable to access your link as it is requiring authentication credentials.
