Can we deactivate a model ?

Hi guys,

In my local DevBox, I have a few model that I feel not necessary at some moment. Can we just deactivate it ? or we should delete ?

Or sometime, I might need to try something in standard environment by means no customization or custom model, but I only have this 1 environment. That's why I want to know whether we can just deactivate custom model, and later we can activate is again.

Thanks,

I've rather created a blog post about it: F&O development with multiple version control workspaces.

    Hi Martin,

I do interested. Can you help to give guidance or run-through on what should I do. I've the README but I'm afraid I can't imagine what to do next.
I'm sorry, my development skill is somewhat basic still.

    Thanks.

I use F&O dev environments in a way that makes this scenario very simple. I never put any custom packages to PackagesLocalDirectory. Instead, I use a separate folder with my code and symbolic links to standard packages. In fact, I have multiple custom folders with code from different branches. Then I tell F&O and VS to use a particular folder. If I want vanilla code, I can point to PackagesLocalDirectory, because (as I said) there are no custom packages there.

If you decide to use the same setup, I have some scripts on GitHub that will help you.

If you don't and you just want to disable the models, deleting them (and getting them later again from source control) will work for sure. But maybe deleting descriptor files is sufficient.

    Hi Voltes,

There is no process of deactivation the model temporarily.
Only way will be deleting the model and keeping backup of the model either in disc or in source control. Later you can restore it.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.
