Change NAV login credentials to NAV username & password

Hi,

I'm using NAV 2016 and initially, NAV is setup to login using Windows credentials.

I want to change this to login by NAV username and password. I changed the "Credential Type" to "NavUserPassword" in Admin window. After that when I try to restart the NAV server instance, following error occurred;

"Server Instance 'MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DynamicsNAV90' failed to reach  status 'Running' on this server due to the following error: 'Cannot start the service.'. Additional information may be in the event log of the server."

I guess that I have to setup some more settings. Please help me on this.

Thanks a lot.

Best Regards,

Lakshan

    Hi,

You need to do additional configuration to use the NAVUserPassword option.

Refer following blog from Saurav for the complete details.

    Hope this helps.

Check that the service is running via logon account and not via NT or local account.

Hi LakshanWicky, you must setup your certificate also, not only change the credential type. msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg502467%28v=nav.90%29.aspx

    Good luck!!

    Hi LakshanWicky,

You can follow our common support document at:

    mibuso.com/.../implement-security-certificates-nav-2013

"Document helps you implement Security Certificates Authentication for NAV 2013 and above. It is required by UserName and NavUserPassword credential types. To make it easy, all certificates are generated and you just import them for using:

    - Valid time: from 2013-01-01 to 2040-01-01.

    - Password: "navservice".

    - Thumbprint: "4c 69 ca bc 65 4d 07 d5 61 f1 43 61 21 55 44 00 bf 30 79 f5".
