How can I create a report that tracks "Inactivity"

Hi, I want to create a report to send to my boss weekly that shows any account that has had no activity in the last X days - say 14.  How can I create this report - would it be based off "Accounts" and "Last Modified On"?

    Hi Christopher,

In order to use out-of-the-box reports, you would need to create a Last Activity Date on the Account and write workflows or plug-ins to update this date when activities are closed. This is because you cannot do negatives in Advanced Find queries--like "show me all Accounts that do NOT have activities."

You could always acheive this with a custom report.

If I were really in a crunch to do a report like this, I would create one in a matter of minutes using Marketing Lists.  Create a marketing list of all accounts and then choose the option to use advanced find to remove members, and do a query for all accounts with recent activity to remove them from the list.

Thanks so much.  Right, no negative queries in Reports, that is why I was curious.

I created the Marketing List to add all Accounts, then created a query: Activities (Regarding)  - Last Updated - On or After - 9/21/12.  Is this what you meant?

Thanks so much for your help.  I think it worked, however using all of the following queries only removed 32 Accounts out of 448.  Would these queries pick up activities with Opportunities within the Accounts?  In other words, would it remove any Account that has an associated Opportunity which was added or modified?

    Hi Christopher,

No that would be an additional query you would need to run against the marketing list--all Accounts with an Opportunity--then remove.

Also, have you looked at the out-of-the-box neglected Accounts report to see if that meets your needs at all?

Thanks Gretchen.  I have tried the Neglected Accounts Report in the past, as per below, and I assume this pulls any Accounts in the past 1 month with no activity.  When I run this report to Show All - I get an Invalid Argument error.  Any ideas?

Sorry, getting this error before the Invalid Argument (seems it cannot process all the records because there are quite a few?):

    Hi Christopher,

Sorry, I can't see your screenshots, but I haven't encountered this error before--strange!!
