what are the customization areas to be done at office 365 level and crm online?

its quite time consuming for you to answer , however please help me to know the areas to customize

    Hello,

    You can customize almost all entities with adding fields, relationships, customizing forms and views, changing navigation of CRM using SiteMap, adding/hiding buttons, extending CRM using JavaScript, Workflows, Plugins and Reports. You should download SDK https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=44567 and visit Developer Center - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm/crmdevelopercenter.aspx.

    Hello Chand,

    In short, Office 365 is used to manage CRM users/licenses, managing updates to the CRM environment and gaining a general overview of your CRM Online environments that are set up on your Office 365 tenant.

    As Andrii mentioned, all customization to the CRM environment itself (Fields, forms, workflow logic, web resources, etc.) is done from within CRM.

    Please let me know if you need me to specify any of these further, but in general Office 365 is the user administration portal, while CRM is where you do all the customization of the system.

    Superb! well explained Rasmus, i am customizing ms crm dynamics for IT-consulting firm, here they have no departments or subsidaries . So my question is, is there a need to create new business unit again or its created by default with organization.

    Hi Chand,

    Creating business unit is optional as because it is already created while crm is getting installed(Default Business Unit).If you want,You can create child business unit but always default BU will be the Root BU.

    can i proceed my customization further adding users assigning security roles and so on,,,, under this default/root BU. or do i need to create a child BU.

    You can have a full-blown CRM system only using the root BU, you only need to add additional BUs if you are planning to restrict access across business units or run plugin/workflow/script logic based on a user's BU.
