Adding Resources to a BOM

(0) ShareShare

The BOM for a production order only contains the material (plastic sheets) required to make the product. Is it possible for me to add a resource, such as a tool for a machine, to the BOM without it being consumed after the production order is complete? I want the tool to return to the inventory list after the order is complete and not disappear like the material does. Using AX 2009.

    Hi Blake,

Is your tooling stocked item or non-stocked item?

    Blake,

I`m not sure how things work in 2009 version or production interface looks like.

Would you be able to create manual "Reversal" picking list at the end of your works order for tooling? It should put the tooling back on the stock. Works well in 2012 version.

    Regards,

Where would you be able to set the picking list to reversal? Would it be in the BOM settings?

You would need to have two lines and use flushing principles start and finish to do this.

Create one line with positive requirement at start and one with a negative quantity for finish.

Or use a manual production picking process. However... Using tool as a resource might be more useful.

You could also have different operations for assembly of tool and a put back operation. This way you will see when the tool is unavailable in ATP.
