We are having report performance issues with CRM 365 on prem in our production environment which we do not see in our staging.

When we run a custom FetchXML report through CRM, it takes a long time to load, sometimes times out. If we run it again shortly afterwards or a similar report, it will load instantly. After about 1 hour, the same thing will happen. Initial long first load/timeout, then afterwards fairly quick

- The issue existed in CRM 2013, we upgraded to 2016/365 and it still exists in prod

- The SSRS Executionlog3 says TimeDataRetrieval is responsible for the long delay

It sounds like the problem is that it's taking a long time to compile the underlying SQL query. Some possible causes are:

    • Insufficient memory, or a small tempdb, or poorly configured SQL configuration parameters (e.g. the procedure cache size). These apply to whole SQL Server or instance, so would only be relevant if the production and staging environments use different SQL Servers (rather than separate organisations on the same CRM deployment). However, unless this is an unusually complex query, I'd expect these issues to how other performance impacts
    • Missing indexes, or missing statistics on an index. This would apply whether or not the production and staging environments use different SQL Servers

I'd use SQL Profiler to capture the SQL query submitted to CRM, then the index tuning tools in CRM to see what suggestions it makes. Also check that statistics exist on any indexes used in the query

    Hi,

I'm curious if recycle interval for your production SSRS has been updated from the defualt 12 hours:

    social.msdn.microsoft.com/.../ssrs-2008-r2-recycletime-and-slow-start-up-issue

"The app domain recycles every 12 hours which you can change by changing recycle time value found in the rsreportserver.config file under the <Services> tag"
