Hi,
I am reading the article on Security roles
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg731787.aspx
There is a statement that says "Users can also be automatically added to or removed from roles based on the Active Directory groups that they belong to....".
I am wondering how to achieve this automated role assignment based on AD groups. Any ideas/links will be helpful.
I have AX 2012 R2 CU7

Thanks Jonathan. I tried your steps and it worked out well for me. For #4 - i had to wait for "Automatic role assignment" Batch job to execute once, after i added the AD group user information in "Users" form. That batch job automatically created all users (part of AD group) in Users form.
Hi Venkatesh.
Its pretty easy to do this automatic role assignment based on AD groups.
1. Create a group in active directory with all the relevant users
2. Manually create a user of type "Active Directory Group" in AX via the user form (do not use the wizard).
3. Assign the relevant permissions to the "Group" user.
4. All users who are part of that AD group will now have the same access as the "Group" even though it doesn't show up directly in their profile. Users who are part of that group but not yet part of AX will also be automatically created.
