Hello All,

We are planning to move CRM from HTTP to HTTPS. If anyone have any prerequisites or list of challenges which may occur during this activity, please let me know. Also, we have so many other portals were CRM services are consumed on daily, will there be any impact in this as well.

Regards,
Rahul

    Hi Rahul,

Its depends on the deployment authentication type.

If you want to use windows authentication (AD), changes are less. Simply buy a certificate and enable HTTPS binding with that certificate in IIS. Still you can use both protocols HTTP and HTTPS.

If you want to remove HTTP binding completely ask the user to use HTTPS only or config URL redirect script ( HTTP to HTTPS) in config files.

    Thanks,

    Venky

Thanks Venky, so the question here is this would be without IFD or with IFD configuration?

    Hi

The above steps for without IFD. What are your plans with IFD or without IFD.

IFD also same way but you need to install ADFS service and configure it with CRM.  With IFD you can use HTTPS protocol only. Refer the below link for configuring IFD.

    Hello All,

For quick reference for moving from HTTP to HTTPs.

    With IFD https

In case of IFD, there will be two url [Intranet url and External url]. JavaScript needs to refer getClientUrl.  In custom code we need to change authentication mechanism.

    Without IFD https

Changing http to https will affect performance. It will change CRM site binding. Below are steps to follow

    1. Need to add SSL to the CRM web site

    2. Disable existing CRM website Binding

    3. Enable a new binding for Https

    Url: blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../creating-ssl-certificates-for-crm-test-environment

    Code-wise Impact

There will be very low level code impact

    1. Hard-coded url needs to be changed if any applicable

    2. Iframe url should refer relative url to current path (starting with "/")

    3. If it ask for credentials then needs to update browser setting as per below link

    Regards,

    Rahul
