Item kitting in business centrel without assembly

Hi All,

Happy New Year!

I have a question on kitting, is there a way to kit items without assembly? the reason I ask this is sometimes I need to adjust components qty which then has an effect on assembly? I want to be able to raise a list of items in a purchase order fast with set qty and adjust as needed.

Thank you in Advance
Alonso

Assembly is still the way to go. Each time an item with an assembly BOM is added to a sales quote/order it creates an equivalent assembly quote/order. This is the “final” kit so you have a template from your item and then per quote/order you adapt it. More quantity or more items, both are fine. Warehouse will then progress with the final assembly order.

    Thank you for your answer.

What if the assembly Bom was added to a job and then a purchase order was created for the planning line item, how will the changes be added to the job journal

    Hi

Not sure I understand your scenario step here, if you need to add quantities to your assembly which leads to the fact you need to buy more "components", then using planning will adapt / adjust your purchase needs depending on item setup

when an item of assembly replenishment is added to a job planning line you need to have the "Usage Link" as true. When you use a planning tool like "Order Planning" for Job Demand an entry will appear for the assembly item. This will create an Assembly Order. The components in the assembly order may need replenishment so once the Assembly Order exists the demand for that will appear in the planning tools too. In terms of tweaking the BOM you will want to do this on the Assembly Order. You will want to have the job planning line reserved against the assembly order so that the true cost is picked up when the job journal is posted. The job planning line will otherwise assume a regular build of that assembly item - when in fact it could have been altered. You can skip the reservation and use the "applies to entry" in the job journal but this will be a lot of manual work potentially.
