I have a question to the item reservations. Reservations often ,,take away'' items and we cannot pick them for our production orders. They take effect as soon as the production orders are confirmed. But sometimes we have to move orders forward and the reservations get in the way. How effect is this and is there a way to change it ?

Is it common practice to work with reservations?

What are the advantages of reservations? Would it be disruptive if we simply abolished reservations?

Hi,

Can you elaborate on your question? What do you mean by "sometimes we have to move orders forward and the reservations get in the way"?

Is the RAF quantity reserved by a sales and you need to move the goods from a production location to a warehouse location before the goods will be shipped to the customer?

In our production process, we create a production order for which we have to fill out and post a picking list at the end of production. Very often (actually always), some items on this picking list are already pre-reserved, and we have to cancel the (automatically set) reservation.
What do you mean by RAF quantity?

Hi,

Please consider the below reservations parameters that suits your business requirement..

The Reserve ordered items option on the General tab lets you reserve item receipts that you ordered against item issues in Accounts receivable, Project management and accounting, and Production control. If you clear this option, you can only reserve items that you physically received. If you set up a particular item to accept negative inventory, this field isn't relevant

Inventory reservation policies on the Production parameters page

The value of the Reservation field on the General tab on the Production parameters page determines the default point in the production process at which inventory should be reserved. For example, you can reserve inventory when work is scheduled or when work is started.

You can consider different stages of production to reserve the inventory or keep it manual (as per business requirement)
