Multi-line text taller than max lines of text setting

I have a basic CASE form that I've added a multi-line text box field to.  If I specify the   height as, say 4 lines high, (any number will do), the form displays the ENTIRE text (and some emails were pasted in, so it could be 20, 30 lines or more, making the form a mess)...

Can anybody else confirm that there appears to be no way in CRM 2013 online to set the maximum number of lines a text box will take up?  Or am I missing something?

if you create a multiple line text box and tell it to occupy a certain number of rows it should only take up that much space then turn into a scroll bar. You have to have "expand to use available space" check box unchecked beneath where you tell it how many rows.

OK, so this sure seems like a bug...

    Field:  custom "problem" field.

Defined as multiple lines of text.  Defined with a HUGE max (somebody else set) of 750,000 (could that be the problem?)  (IME Mode auto, as usual).

On the form, the field is set up to display across one column, and it has 5 rows in the "'number of rows" field, and the "auto expand" box is NOT checked.

Yet, I can see dozens and dozens of lines of an email in that field,..   There is a scroll bar, but it shows all but apparently one line without scrolling...

We are on the latest version, 6.1.0.581, SP1, CRM 2013 on-premise...

If some kind soul would try to dupe this arrangement and let me know the results, I'll be glad to f/u with MSFT on logging a bug...  many thanks,

    Dave

    Hi,

Yes this is a known bug that will likely be fixed in a future rollup.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott
