CM in AR in history with nothing applied

CM in AR was initially applied to an invoice. Customer went into apply documents window and tried to change the apply date to prior month. Now CM is in History and Invoice is in Open - cannot void the historical CM. Was looking for an answer but the PSTL unapply tools work if a document is actually applied. What's the best course of action on this?
