Additional Check Layout

I have spent hours trying to modify/add an additional check layout as required by one of my banks in GP 2010.  I use the Check with Stub top and bottom graphical layout for 10 of my accounts, and don't want to alter that format, but one of my accounts requires that the check info be lined up differantly.  I was able to "copy" the layout in report writer to another name (just added a notation at the end to know the bank), and modify the layout.  For the life of me I can't figure out how to make the new check format available and/or visable in GP.  Does any one have step by step instructions on how to do this?

Thank you Richard.  Yes, that is exactly how I made the modification.  I exported it.  Did a find/replace using an existing check format name that I wasn't using, then imported the definition.  When i look at modified forms, the layout seems to be correct, but when i try to print a test check or alignment form, what is printed looks nothing like the layout.

How did you "copy" the format?  Some people export it, change the name, and import the layout.  You need to use one of the pre-defined names even if the format does not match.  Also, in the exported text file, look through the lines for statements containing the format name.  Change these.
