Error message while trying to post statement for return transaction: Cannot receive quantity 1.00 because inventory transactions with status Ordered, Arrived or Registered are insufficient.

Posted on by 215

Hello experts,

I urgently need your help on an issue that leaves me clueless...When trying to post a statement for a POS return transaction I am getting the following error in the aggreated transaction details tab:

While processing the state Customer order invoiced, generic exception encountered in retail statement 000000XX-000000XXX in the controller : Posting Posting Sales order: SOXXX Item: XXX Cannot receive quantity 1.00 because inventory transactions with status Ordered, Arrived or Registered are insufficient.

I have checked the item model groups and warehouse setup. Negative inventory (financial and physical) is allowed. Also there is no picking requirement whatsoever.

There is plenty of inventory for this item, but this should not matter as we are trying to receive the item back to inventory here.

I have spend quite some time reading all the other posts related to this error message, but could not find a suitable solution for my problem.

The closest problem description was in this post from 2016 claiming it might be a MS bug.https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/microsoft-dynamics-ax-forum/201889/retail-statement-posting-issue-please-advise/523252

But i would assume such a bug would have been fixed already.

When I try to create the SO manually from Call Center and use the exact same setup, posting a packing slip (for example) works fine.

So I suspect the issue is within the statement posting. We are only facing this issue for return orders. Normal sales transactions can be posted via statements.

Here is our setup:

Installed product version : 10.0.16 (10.0.689.10004) Installed platform version : Update40 (7.0.5860.35679)

Please advise on this as I am running out of options to test..Thank you!

    HI Ramune,

thanks for the input. We have already suspected something like this. I will turn off our customizations and then have another round of analysis! Thanks!

    Hi Michael,

As I see, most of such errors are coming due to customization/extensions. Do you have any customization done?

If you can reproduce this issue in standard environment, please create a support case for us so we can investigate it.
