Sending notification parallely to Project Manager and Line Manger in Timesheet workflow

Hello Expert,

Hope everyone doing well.

Just wondering is there any way for configuring timesheet workflow which sends notification to Project manager/mangers and Line Manager at the same time.

Current process :- Timesheet Line workflow needs approval from project manager and Timesheet header workflow needs approval from Line manager of the resource.

So Line manager will not get notification till all the the Project managers has approved the timesheet lines.

So, can we configure something like, anyone (Project Manager or Line Manager) can take action but the workflow will get completed once it's approved by All.

Hi Zohaib,

I see a logical conflict here from this request.

Imagine the line manager approves the timesheet header while the line manager does not approve.

Another example would be if you have two lines that go to two project managers. If the first one approves, the second one not and the line manager approves the header WF, what should happen in this case?

Can't you simply work with line workflows only and assign them to the line manager and the project managers at the same time? If both of them approved then the line is approved and ultimately also the timesheet.

Hello Zohaib,

You can setup parallel workflow on Timesheet header workflow. In the parallel setup you can in one section initiate Header Timesheet workflow and in other parallel branch initiate Timesheet line workflow.

I have tested several scenarios listed by Ludwig and I had consistent results. To get header and lines approved, both workflow branches must be approved. If only one is approved, and the other in process - then both are still InReview status.

User has full control on process as it is possible to recall the workflow from line or header.

Definitely there is a logical conflict what client is asking.

But yes, we can configure a Line Workflow as you mention and it will work, I was just wondering is any other config i can do to get this sorted.

But all good now.
